Internet Problems and Business Things

Ongoing internet troubles with CenturyLink have caused me to not livestream as often I'd like, but I'm working on getting that corrected - and I'm also getting a second internet source, T-Mobile 5G Internet.  It's my only other option in my new location.  Mediacom isn't here.  None of the other local fiber internet companies are here.  I'm on the wait list for Google Fiber.  I'm not interested in getting a Starlink.

For the week:
  • I did a "live art sale" - pre-recorded, because of the internet issues.  It's available on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, BitChute, Odysee, and Rumble.

  • I did send a weekly email, and my Instagram followers increased thanks for Reels and Posts. More "business" things to deal with this week.

  • Ran my first "payroll" for my new LLC, and the bookkeeper made it easy.

  • Had to get a bunch of new accounts with the State, including signing up for a State Unemployment ID code in Iowa.  That interface was a lot of fun.  I can't remember how many times I had to enter my phone number in the process.  Maybe 7 or 8 times?  As a software tester in my day job, I cringe when I see repetitive entries on web sites. 

  • If the internet ever stays up, I'm planning to buy a 10' x 10' "tent" soon for in-person shows next year, but I'm going to assemble it in my studio space in the unfinished part. I can spend time over the winter staging the space, and use it as both "artworks studio" and "video studio 2".


  • On the music side, "Alien Signals" by Saag Paneer was released to the streamers on 9/20/22, and I have an expanded edition available at Bandcamp.  Saag Paneer is heavily processed drone music.



  • Next week, on September 30th, "I Want to Walk Out Into the Night" will be released by Vibrating Wires to the streamers.  An expanded edition is available at Bandcamp.  Vibrating Wires is ambient / mutant country / industrial / noise



  • And on October 10th, "Artistic Wave" by Ambient Matyk will be released to the streamers.  It's out already on Bandcamp.  Ambient Matyk is live and improvised ambient and electronic music.

I Like To Make Videos

I like to make videos: In the above video, I went "live" on Wednesday evening, October 19, 2022, thumbed through a couple of art books, showed off some past print collages, and worked on a new small painting. Looking through art books on video is a new thing I've been doing.  I prefer smaller books rather than those gigantic, 50 pound catalog raisonnes that cost hundreds of dollars.  I try to keep it witty and light-hearted, although I do indicate what kind of art I like and what I just don't get or never got. Another kind I make are "sped-up painting" videos, like Sleep of Dreams: These are easy to create using FilmForth, a cheap video editing program on Windows.  I can make these in about 5 minutes, including adding my music.  Rendering takes a few more minutes.  Then I upload and schedule the videos using my Streamyard account.  Eventually they're broadcast on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, and afterwards end up automatically on other streaming sites...

Livestreaming Every Day Makes Me More Productive

Lately I've been getting into a good groove of livestreaming in the evenings. If, like me, you have full-time job, family responsibilities, and perhaps have another side business (I'm also a recording artist ), and like to go to the gym occasionally, then there's little time for art except on nights and weekends. You really have to carve out time.  I don't watch or read "the news".  I rarely watch movies, and they're always classics .  I don't watch episodic TV shows.  I do watch a little YouTube (mostly shows about cars , "fails" and dash cam videos, Azerbaijan cooking , and ragdoll cats .) What's motivating for me is hopping on Streamyard and getting live on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch for a little while.  These videos are later rebroadcast as recordings onto BitChute, Odysee, and Rumble.  As I like to say, "It's good to be everywhere..."
