Return of the Mark Rushton Gallery
Mark Rushton of Mark Rushton Gallery here...
Nobody's going to read this initial post, at least not for a while. That's what happens when you start over.
My art and recording studio has moved to a new location in recent weeks, and I'm in the process of getting unpacked in early September 2022.
There's no real good place to write on my Gallery web site, or even my personal web site, so I blew out the cobwebs on this blog and it'll do. It's good way to gather thoughts every so often and use it as the basis for my email list.

Here's kind of a "Self-Interview" that's in the moment.

Top 8 art plans for the near future - in no particular order:
Top 8 art plans for the near future - in no particular order:
1. I've got to get more completed artworks photographed, on the gallery web site, available for sale, and then keep promoting them through videos, Instagram posts & reels, and the email list. Soon, I'll have some soft boxes for lighting, rig up a kind of hanging system in my workspace, and start taking photos.
2. A lot of my smaller artworks need to be revised. Doesn't every artist say this? There's nothing wrong with making a change.
3. Big sales are coming. Super deep discounts. Flash live sales. These artworks need homes! Get on the mailing list to be aware of the major sales.
4. In the next month or two, I plan to buy a dye sublimation printer and heat press. I'd like to be able to make my own metal prints, functional merchandise, and one-off clothing.
5. My subject matter will branch out. I've been working the "abstract landscape" for years, and I like them, but after playing around with the thermal printer I've got new collage and figurative ideas in my head.
6. More videos from the studio. People like watching "painting" videos, either in real time or speeded up. They'd rather watch that than hear me ramble.
7. The new studio spaces are unfinished, so I need to get a contractor in to get an estimate on framing, doors, drywall, some additional electrical, flooring, and soundproofing.
8. I'd like to have a booth at some "arts and crafts" events in the area. They have them every month. I know it's a lot of time and expense, but it can also be a great way to attract new clients, get rid of existing inventory, and experiment with all the marketing techniques I've learned in the past six months.

That's it for now. Top 8 is all I can handle.

Who is Mark Rushton? I'm a professional recording artist and fine artist who has managed to hang on to creativity.
I've released music and sounds since the early 2000s under many different names, including my own. I largely create ambient, beat-driven electronica, and avant-garde music and soundscapes, as well as field recordings and sound effects.
I'm also a fine artist / painter, making original paintings, limited edition prints, and functional merchandise.
